Removable Dentures On Implants

While in many cases partial or full dentures may be the best option, dental implants can often be a great solution as well.

Some of the benefits of dentures attached to implants are better stability when eating, less food seepage in and around the teeth, better bone preservation, decreased gum tissue shrinkage, and better dietary nutrition.  Additionally, patients feel much more confident in their appearance since dental implants both look and feel more like natural teeth.

In complete endentulous cases, the main denture fixation techniques are:

A retention bar screwed to four (4) implants, which secures the denture by means of retention clips.

A retention bar screwed to two (2) implants.

Two (2) snap fasteners which secure the denture.

Dental implants are the next best thing to real live teeth.  During implant surgery, the first phase is to place the ‘implant body’.  The implant body acts as a new root or anchor to which the actual tooth is then attached.  This process allows the body to integrate and accept the implant as a real tooth, providing excellent stability and strength.  Once the implant body is in place, the next phase is to either install a single tooth onto it, or use it as an abutment to retain full or partial dentures.
