Partial Dentures

Partial Dentures

Partial Dentures are used when you still have one or more natural teeth remaining.  Partial Dentures can be fabricated to be tooth-supported, tissue/tooth-supported, or implant/tooth supported., and will be constructed of materials such as acrylic and metal.

Partial Dentures are designed to help preserve the remaining natural teeth.  They are also constructed in a way that lessens some of the strain on the natural teeth that remain by helping to distribute the chewing force evenly.

Removable Partial Denture

Partial Dentures are also called “removable partial denture”, they help restore the form and function of your jaw by replacing one or several missing teeth.

Partial Dentures may have a metal framework and clasps that connect to your teeth, or they can have connectors that are more natural looking.  In some specific cases, a removable partial denture is made to attach your natural teeth with devices called precision attachments.

If you have one or more natural teeth remaining in either the upper of lower jaw, you can get a removable partial dentures, or bridge.

Advantage Of Treatment

The main difference relies in cost and comfort. Plastic partial dentures are less expensive to make.  Metal partial dentures are usually more stronger and lighter to wear and they usually offer a more natural-looking teeth.

It is important to assess the best option with your denturist.  In most cases the metal-based partial denture is a better option for patients.

The best way to clean your partial denture is to carefully brush and soak it daily.  By soaking it in a denture-cleaning solution it will help remove any plaque, food and stains.  It will also disinfect them.

Removing your dentures at night is the healthiest thing to do! It is important to give gums and other mouth tissues a chance to rest.  By removing your dentures you will also prevent bacterial agents to develop in your mouth.
