Care and Maintenance Services

Care and Maintenance Services

At Olds Denture & Implant Centre, we strive to educate our patients on how to care for their Dentures to allow for the longest life-span and oral health.

When you become a patient at our clinic, we will take the following steps as part of your treatment plan:

Medical and Dental History

Many people don’t realize that non-dental health conditions can contribute to their oral health.  That’s why at Olds Denture & Implant Centre, we take a full dental and medical history to place in your patient chart.  Each time you visit us, we will update your file with any health changes that may have an impact on how your dentures fit or function.

Examination and Assessment of Oral Structures

We will perform a thorough examination and assessment of your oral cavity, head and neck.  This will help us to determine any special issues that need to be addressed involving your gum and bone tissue.  This will help to detect any causes of issues you may be experiencing with how your dentures fit or feel.

Examination and Assessment of Your Existing Dentures

During each visit, we will examine your existing dentures to ensure that they are structurally intact.  Even the slightest change to your bone or gum tissue can lead to problems with how your dentures fit.  We want to ensure your utmost comfort, and have your dentures performing their job optimally, so taking the time to examine them on a regular basis is important.  If you feel discomfort, we can perform adjustments quickly.

We will check for any cracks, chips or other type of damage to your dentures, and advise you of the best course of treatment to resolve these issues.

Oral Hygiene, Care and Education

We strive to ensure each and every one of our patients is armed with all the information they need to ensure good oral health and hygiene.  This can range from basic things like how to clean your dentures, to how to take care of your gums to prevent infection or tissue damage.

Denture Cleaning

Your dentures will need to be cleaned at least once daily, and often twice depending on the types of foods you eat.

As well, your dentures should be professionally cleaned and polished every 6 months to ensure they look healthy and clean.  Otherwise, plaque and tartar can build up, just as it does on natural teeth. If these substances aren’t removed they can lead to gum disease, cavities in your natural teeth, and make your dentures look dull and dingy.

Advantage Of Treatment

Poor oral health can affect the brain, Respiratory Infections, Diabetes, Pregnancy Complications, Infertility, Erectile Dysfunction, Cancer.
